Stephen Hawking Wants You To
With Stephen Hawking all the rage at the moment, I’m feeling more than timely publishing the lyrics to Stephen Hawking Wants You To, a song I released two weeks ago as part of my new EP Incandescence. Just today, the man at the centre of The Theory of Everything, an upcoming feature film focussing on his romance with first wife, Jane, has released the startling news that the “God” or Higgs Boson Particle could one day destroy the universe. Of course, this may be many billions of years into the future … or it could be happening right now. No-one really knows … Until then, I suggest we seize the moment and live a little 🙂 This is a song about doing just that.
Verse 1
You say you burn for science, not for romance.
You say you dream of stars I just can’t see.
Stephen Hawking thrills you – that’s terrific.
There’s one thing he can’t do as well as me.
A kiss goes on forever when it’s caught in light.
A kiss leaps on from star to endless star,
Travelling from earth into the universe,
Far from where we think we know we are.
Chorus
So kiss me for the sake of science.
Kiss me like you know it’s true.
Kiss me like you mean forever.
Stephen Hawking wants you to.
Verse 2
I know you think I’m watching too much Star Trek.
But hey, you’ve got a crush on Dr Who.
She’d tell us not to argue with the cosmic facts –
The light we make goes way beyond us two.
If we could speed up time and take a telescope
To watch ourselves from some weird bit of space,
This is what we‘d see – your lips on mine,
Burning in some otherworldly place.
Chorus
So kiss me for the sake of science.
Kiss me like you know it’s true.
Kiss me like you mean forever.
Stephen Hawking wants you to.
Bridge
Stephen Hawking
Stephen Hawking
Stephen Hawking
Says it’s true.
Stars and magic.
He’s ecstatic.
All of science thinks so too.
Chorus
So kiss me for the sake of science.
Kiss me like you know it’s true.
Kiss me like you mean forever.
Stephen Hawking wants you,
All of science wants you –
Chorus
To kiss me for the sake of science.
Kiss me like you know it’s true.
Kiss me like you mean forever.
Stephen Hawking wants you –
All of science wants you –
Stephen Hawking wants you to.
